.:Summary of Duties:.

Performs one or more of the following duties:  Cleans offices, storerooms, corridors, stairways, and other areas.  Sweeps, dry mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors, using brooms, mops, lightweight vacuum cleaners, and lightweight floor scrubbers and buffers.  Dusts, waxes, and polishes furniture.  Empties ashtrays and wastebaskets.  Polishes door knobs and other metal fixtures.  Washes walls, windows, and blinds that can be reached without climbing ladders or scaffolds.   Keeps rest rooms in clean, orderly, and sanitary condition.  Cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls.  Cleans mirrors, sinks, and water fountains.  Dusts ledges and woodwork.  Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap.  Maintains a stock of cleaning materials and equipment and notifies supervisor when more are needed.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy.  Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.  Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact.  Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems.  Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services.  Takes action to solve problems quickly.  Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.  Adheres to safety regulations and standards.  Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures.  Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.   Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge:  Knowledge and skill sufficient to read signs, follow simple oral and written instructions.  Ability to move around well enough to work safely while moving lightweight objects.  Ability to use common cleaning tools and light weight vacuum cleaners. 

Responsibility:  Works with specific oral and written instructions.  Worker is not called upon to judgment other than simple choices.   

Physical Effort:  Exerts light physical effort in doing such tasks as using vacuum cleaners and dry mops; running lightweight powered scrubbers and buffers; continually standing, bending, stooping, and reaching; frequently lifting and emptying wastebaskets; frequently pushing carts and occasionally lifting and carrying.  Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.

Working Conditions:  Work is performed indoors, in areas which normally have adequate heat, light and ventilation.  Work involves exposure to dirt and disagreeable odors.  Normally, there is a chance only of minor injuries.
