LifeSkills encompasses the capabilities necessary to successfully meet the challenges of everyday life, the mobile military lifestyle, and heightened operational/deployment tempo, including but not limited to: stress and anger management; financial management; parenting skills; elder care; and inter-family dynamics. LifeSkills also encompasses the tools and capabilities of the Spouses’ Learning Series (SLS).

.:Spouses’ Learning Series:.

The Spouses' Learning Series provides military spouses the opportunity to further their personal and professional growth through a series of workshops and online courseware.  This program is available to all military spouses.  The triad of workshops and online courseware provides skills and educational development in the following areas: Communication, Relationship Building, Personal and Professional Empowerment, Business Management and Leadership, Stress Reduction, Goal Setting, and Life/Work Balance.

SLS Seminar Motivational Workshop - Champion Heart
[Tuesday, September 9th – Officer’s Club, Mesa Room]

The motivational workshop Champion Heart: Leading a More Confident Military Life, features Jacey Eckhart, successful author, syndicated columnist, and the creative drive behind the deployment CD "These Boots: A Spouse's Guide To Stepping Up and Standing Tall During Deployment", available through Military OneSource. 
Champion Heart is the strong and active ability to build a life with a moving/deploying military member.  It means championing a relationship, a family, a community, a way of life.

This interactive workshop is designed to provide spouses with the opportunity to gain a working knowledge of personal communication styles and personality types, and to use the new understanding of self to improve communication and relationships with their spouse, family, friends, and co-workers.  The workshop also helps define each participant's signature strengths and how to build on those strengths to solve common problems, manage, and enjoy Marine Corps life.

.:Spouses' Learning Series - Online Educational Skills Building:.

The online Business Management and Leadership Skills training is professional, self-paced and targeted to meet the needs of the Spouses' Learning Series (SLS). SLS Online Courseware is designed to provide spouses with short, effective online learning opportunities to expand their base of knowledge in their personal and professional lives. Courses are available 24-7 and are free. Each of the 80+ courses is intended to be applicable to all levels of education and volunteering regardless of whether the spouse is new or experienced, management or entry level. Personal and Professional Development Classes cover the following topic areas:

• Leadership Development
• Management Skill Builders
• Personal Skills Development
• Team Building 

The online courseware is especially important to those spouses who have accompanied their Marine on Independent Duty or to a Remote location and who are not aboard a Marine Corps installation.

If you have taken these courses and enjoy them, recommend them to friends, fellow Family Readiness Volunteers, L.I.N.K.S. team members or other Marine Corps spouses. They are available to everyone and look great on a resume.
