Lori Rogers, family readiness officer for 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, is practically a native of Twentynine Palms. She has been stationed here with her husband for nine years now, during which time she has volunteered as a LINKS team leader, key volunteer and key volunteer coordinator. When the Family Readiness Program initiated in 2008, friends told Lori she was a shoe in. “I’ve always been on the volunteer side of things,” she said. Being in an official FRO position has allowed her to have more communication with the Marines, which she has deeply enjoyed. She touts Twentynine Palms as a “family oriented community” and “the place you come to save money and get an education.”

When not reaching out to her Marines’ spouses, parents and family members, Lori spends much of her time working on her own education through University of Phoenix. She hopes to complete her accounting degree and go through a law program. Her two children, ages 10 and 11, are also a major part of Lori’ life. “Their sports keep us hopping,” she said.
