Ruby Zunino has been serving the families of 1st Battalion, 7th Marines since August of 2008. The British native married her Marine over10 years ago and knows the intricacies of the Marine Corps. Throughout their time in the military, Ruby has spent countless hours volunteering for battalions. “As a spouse, I know what I want [from a FRO],” she said. Her husband has deployed four times, attended multiple schools and served as a geo bachelor at the drill field. Ruby has survived the challenges of separation and now brings that experience to her unit’s families. “I know [separation] is hard. If it’s hard for me, a seasoned spouse, it must be much harder for the first time spouse. My door is always open, and my cell phone is always on.”
If you have not received contact from Ruby, she asks that you please call to make sure she has your correct information. She will also add you to her database to receive information about unit activities. “I want to make sure every spouse and family member has the resources and information that they need, so that they are an integral part of our 1/7 family,” she said. Ruby encourages her military families to get involved in what’s happening on and off base and to attend unit functions.
When not wrapped up in her 24/7 job, Ruby takes full advantage of what the desert has to offer, especially rock climbing, camping and hiking. |
