WHO QUALIFIES FOR RESPITE CARE?
All EFMP families qualify for Respite Care!
WHAT IS RESPITE?
EFMP Respite Care is a program that provides temporary rest periods for family members with disabilities or who are responsible for regular care of persons with disabilities.
Installation EFMP Managers are directed to continue to provide qualified DOD sponsors working or living aboard Marine Cops Installations 40 hours of Respite Care per month for EFMP enrolled family members with disabilities or who are responsible for regular care of persons with special needs.
AT WHAT RATE DO I QUALIFY FOR RESPITE CARE?
Care delivery options may include, but are not limited to, installation child development programs, special needs childcare centers, and/or visiting nurse services. The installation EFMP Managers will determine the appropriate reimbursement rate per hour based on the following criteria:
- Level one includes EFMP Children, twelve years old or younger, with mild special needs. The rate of care may not exceed the installation’s CDC rate.
- Level two includes EFMP children, twelve years old or younger, with mild special needs who could qualify for a higher level of Respite Care through the special needs evaluation and review team (SNERT) process. The rate of care may not exceed twice the amount of the installation CDC rate.
- Level three includes EFMP family members with moderate special needs who require trained support from providers to stay safe in their home. The rate of care may not exceed three times the rate of the installation’s CDC.
- Level four includes EFMP family members with severe special needs who require nursing care services to stay safe in their home. The rate of care may be at least four times but not shall exceed nine times the rate of the installation’s CDC. Under no circumstance will the rate of care exceed $45 per hour.
- Respite care is provided in conjunction with siblings of children eligible for EFMP and children of adults with disabilities who are twelve years old or younger. The rate of care may not exceed the installation’s CDC rate.
