Creative Writing Wednesdays
Wednesdays this summer,
Noon - 1 pm & 5 - 6 pm

The Lifelong Learning Library is pleased to announce Creative Writing Wednesdays!

Every Wednesday, we will be offering a number of amazing workshops on fiction, non-fiction, journaling and poetry, to name a few. These exciting new workshops will be led by none other than Cara North.

Cara North is the pseudonym for Tonya Nagle, a former Marine and now Marine wife. With over seven years of fiction writing to her credit, in addition to a master’s in education and more than five novels published, Cara is offering a unique opportunity to learn from her experience; an opportunity you won’t want to miss!

Come explore creative writing on Wednesdays this summer. We will kick off this event with an orientation May 26 from noon to 1 p.m. and from 5 to 6 p.m. to fill you in on this exciting free program. All ages welcome.

Family Readiness Volunteer Training is for individuals who wish to volunteer for their unit in the capacity of Family Readiness Assistant to the Family Readiness Officer or as a Family Readiness Advisor to the unit Command Team.

Family Readiness Volunteer training classes can also
be scheduled on an as needed basis at the request
of the Family Readiness Officer for each
unit/command.

Contact the Family Readiness Program Trainer to pre-register by calling 760.830.4163 or email sharon.altemoos@usmc.mil.

Child care will be available if participants are registered for class at a minimum of three (3) business days prior and requests the need.

Baby Basics Class

Baby Basics is a fast-paced class that provides information on labor & delivery, postpartum, breast-feeding and safety for babies from pregnancy to 12 months. The class also emphasizes the father's involvement and includes interactive demonstrations of basic infant care, such as bathing, diapering and soothing a crying baby. The class is provided to expectant parents [both couples and singles]. Participants must register prior to attending class. This class combines Mommy's Basic Training and Daddy's Baby Boot Camp.

Classes are offered on the following days:

• October 7th
• November 4th
• December 2nd

4 Lenses Workshop

Are you an orange or are you blue? If you want to learn more about yourself and those around you, join us for this fun workshop that is all about personality! You will learn why people do the things they do while getting to know yourself in the process.

Care Package Day is Everyday!

Send a Care Packages to your deployed Marine or Sailor! MCCS is now offering weekday (except Federal Holidays) mailings.

We provide the flat rate APO/FPO boxes, tape, custom forms and labels. Sorry we don't have packing peanuts. The only requirement is that the package NOT be opened prior to sending.

For each package sent, the sender will receives a $10.00 coupon for use in the Main Exchange (it cannot be used at Seven Day or any other Retail facility); coupon expire at the end of 2010.

The flat rate prices are $10.35 for the small box
and $11.95 for the larger box. Senders may provide their own packaging, but they will pay the adequate postage for that size and weight.

United Through Reading

Stay Connected with your kids during your next deployment with United Through Reading. Sign up in the Library to reserve a recording time or contact your unit representative. You will be recorded reading your child a story. This is a FREE program and is open to all active duty. Books and DVDs will be provided.

Overseas Connection is a PCS workshop for anyone with orders to any military installation outside of the Continental United States.
